Expel Wind Damp: Han Fang Ji

Han Fang Ji is in Bensky in the "Drain Dampness" category. This helps to remember that Fang Ji promotes urination and reduces edema - especially in the lower body and legs. It looks like a little wagon wheel to me, too, and the legs are like human wagon wheels. Can you guess which channels it goes to with its urination/edema/lower leg indications? UB and KID (and also SPLEEN - good for a gurgling belly). It also alleviates pain due to Wind-Damp causing fever, red, swollen, hot joints. It is the only herb is this group (I think) that is cold. Therefore it is cautioned with SP/ST deficiency and yin deficiency. The dosage is relatively low: 4.5 to 9 grams and that is because our little Fang Ji wagon wheels can cause overdose at 30g and above (this will look like vomit, tremor, convulsions, respiratory failure - that kind of thing). It is bitter and spicy, helping with the dispersing and descending.

Fang = to protect Ji=self (Han is for the Han Dynasty)

PS Does Fang Ji rhyme with Pee Pee? Sort of? Does Fang Ji rhyme with lower body? I didn't think so either. How about Fang Ji / Edema?
