Clear Heat/Cool Blood: Xi Jiao and Shui Niu Jiao

Xi Jiao is the horn of the rhino. Shui Niu Jiao is the horn of the water buffalo. Both of these herbs do the same thing, except that rhinos are now protected, so the horn is an obsolete herb, and since it's a wild animal the horn is much more potent than Shui Niu Jiao. Dosage for Xi Jiao was just 0.5 to 1.5 g, and dosage for the water buffalo is 30 to 120g.

The herbs are bitter (who wouldn't be bitter, being killed for their horns?) and salty (salty, salty tears). They go to the Heart, Liver, and Stomach channels.

I wonder how it was figured out that ingesting rhino horn would clear heat, cool the blood, and resolve fire toxicity? Ingesting the horns will resolve reckless, chaotic blood loss. Kind of ironic given that some restless, chaotic blood loss occurs when these animals are killed for their parts. I can't help but preach about this; I was vegan / vegetarian for about 20 years.

Xi Jiao and Shui Niu Jiao also arrest tremors. They will revive some one's consciousness by blowing powdered horn up their nose. They help with delirium and mania.
